I am Dr. Teressa Fulgham McCarty, a wife, mother, leader, learner, entrepreneur, mentor, and friend. From a young age, I’ve been captivated by the power of education and inspired by the potential of great ideas. My journey has taken me from teaching dolls and teddy bears in my childhood home to founding McCarty Consulting, where I now help organizations build strong foundations for success.

 

 

The Roots of a Dream

As an elementary school student, Career Day was my favorite event of the year. Year after year, I dressed as the Treasurer of the United States, carrying my dad’s old briefcase filled with Monopoly money. I dreamed of seeing my name on every dollar bill.

But even then, my heart belonged to education. At home, I set up “classrooms” filled with dolls and teddy bears, teaching them about nouns, verbs, and more. Teaching wasn’t just an activity for me—it was part of who I was.

 

 

A Career in Education

In 2010, I officially began my journey in public education as a teacher, later transitioning into administrative roles. Over the years, I served at all levels—elementary, middle, high school, and even community college—helping schools and districts build systems to improve accountability, develop innovative programs, and streamline operations.

 

Some highlights include:

  • Leading efforts to secure state approvals for new educational programs.
  • Creating strategic initiatives to support student success, including increasing participation in Dual Credit programs and enhancing graduation pathways.
  • Designing curriculum and logistics for leadership development programs that empower emerging leaders.

 

Through these experiences, I gained a deep understanding of how policies, procedures, and training come together to support sustainable success in any organization.

 

 

Expanding the Vision

When I founded McCarty Consulting in 2022, I brought with me the philosophy that great organizations—like great schools—require three key elements:

  1. Planning: A clear, strategic plan serves as a roadmap for growth.
  2. Procedures: Consistent workflows ensure alignment and efficiency.
  3. Training: Empowered individuals drive organizational success.

At McCarty Consulting, I’ve applied these principles to help clients streamline operations, create custom training programs, and develop actionable strategies to achieve their goals.

 

 

Why It Matters

Throughout my career, I’ve seen too many promising efforts fail due to poor or nonexistent planning. This drives my passion for helping organizations avoid these pitfalls. From classroom management to district leadership, I’ve always prioritized creating environments where individuals and teams can thrive.

In one administrative role, I developed systems for accreditation compliance, grant management, and policy reviews—initiatives that helped streamline operations and support organizational success.
